What credit score do I need to be able to buy my first home?

I am a first-time home buyer. My income is $60,000 a year and my credit score is 521.

Minimum credit scores needed to qualify for a mortgage vary from lender to lender. However, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan was established to make homeownership accessible and affordable. They have programs for poor credit with scores as low as 580.
