My debt is mainly medical bills and all accounts are closed. Should I even consider bankruptcy with such low debt?

Bankruptcy is basically legal protection that needs to be done through the court system and that prevents creditors from taking legal action. It will remain on your credit report for seven years and may make it difficult to obtain new credit. If you are struggling to pay your bills, consider chatting to your local credit union about your options for debt consolidation and a low-interest loan.
