Airbnb is known as a way to save people money on their vacation lodging, but it is possible to use the service and still drop wads and wads of cash. The sliding scale on the Airbnb search bar only goes to $1,000+ per night, but it is certainly possible to find listings at far greater than $1,000. We managed to find a few listings across the globe that go for staggering amounts.
These listings may not be at the top by the time you read this article, since listings change frequently and Airbnb does not have the means to filter by the most expensive listings — after all, who aside from curious writers and the insanely rich would be motivated to do so? Nevertheless, here are the most expensive ones we could find.
- Moscow, Russia – $10,000 2-bedroom, 2.5 bath apartment with spa (pictured above), located within a five-minute walk of the Kremlin. At a four-night minimum stay, you will be spending a minimum of $40,000. However, from September 12, 2015 to April 30, 2016, the minimum stay is thirty nights. That is $300,000 to be within five minutes walking distance of the Kremlin for a month.
The listing says that according to Forbes the house is one of the five most expensive homes in Moscow, located within the historical center of the city. The house rules include being polite to the security guys and not taking photographs in the main hall of the building. Pretty sound advice anywhere in Russia, we think....
- Klosters, Switzerland – Located in the mountains near the financial center of Davos, this four-story, six-bedroom chalet is listed at $8,627 per night with a minimum stay of seven days and an $1,106 security deposit. The chalet known as Chesa Falcun is listed as a "families welcome" resort, and offers such amenities as a sauna, steam shower, and a partially covered outdoor hot tub.
- Vallejo, California – This listing for $10,000 per night offers an "intimate wedding for forty inclusive of a five-course dinner" and, of course, some wonderful Napa Valley wine. You and your new spouse spend the day before the wedding in the main house and spend the next three nights in the adjoining cottage. There is also a guest room for your maid of honor. You can enjoy a secluded mini-honeymoon or check out everything San Francisco and the Bay Area have to offer.
- Park City, Utah – The home of the Sundance Film Festival, Park City contains the listing for the Abode at Red Cloud-Deer Valley. At $10,000 per night with a three-night minimum stay and a $5,100 security deposit, you can enjoy this five-bedroom villa with a media screening room, exercise studio, and direct ski-trail access from heated walkways.
If you have $10,000 or more for your vacation, free time, and a sense of adventure, consider trying these or similar high-dollar Airbnb listings. At these prices, though, you can probably afford a five-star hotel.
