Less than a month into owning my home the homeowners insurance says I need a new roof or my policy will be canceled. What can I do?

We closed on our house less than a month ago. We had the home inspected less than a month before that. About two weeks after closing the homeowners insurance said they wanted to send an inspector to our home. About a week and a half later we received a letter stating that if we didn’t replace our roof within a month we were going to lose our homeowners insurance. Now I know a lot of insurance companies are doing everything they can to limit liability for the upcoming hurricane season. However, I do not feel that this is fair. Is there anyway that I can fight this, or possibly hold the inspector liable if he actually missed something?
