I have old debt that I haven't paid yet how long does that negative information stay on my credit report?

Some people say five years and some say seven.

Delinquent payments stay on your report for seven years from the date you missed the payment. Improving your credit is far more than waiting for the old, bad information to fall off. Take a minute to read this informative article on how late payments affect your credit score.
