How can my kids obtain a credit card with no credit history? I have always told them to pay cash when they want something.

Have them apply for a secured card that requires cash in the account in order to make a transaction. Once they have established a short credit history, have them call the card company and ask for a small amount of credit, then rinse and repeat.

I want my son's credit to be established as early as possible. Can this also work with a 5 year old? I know he can't get his own credit cared until he is older but is there an age limit on when I can apply for one for him with me as the co-signer?
