Credit Card Assessment Is Crucial Ahead Of Holiday Season
October 24, 2016

The holiday season can be an expensive time and many people turn to their credit cards as a source of finance. Doing so without a thorough assessment could bring problems.

One of the first things to do is to use a free credit score service and assess financial health. You can check your credit score and read your credit report for free within minutes using Credit Manager by MoneyTips. Doing this helps to identify any problems, such as failures to make timely repayments. These can be addressed as necessary so there are no problems when holiday shopping.

It is important to take stock of all available credit cards, check the credit and attempt to get all the accounts into good standing. Paying off outstanding debt will bring down debt-utilization ratios, helping borrowers to improve their credit scores. Such assessments will also give people a good idea of their financial situation, and how much they will be able to spend during the holiday season.

Finally, it is a good idea to check benefits and rewards associated with each card. One card may offer better cash back options, making it the best for buying gifts, groceries, or other holiday items. There are also price protection plans, which refund money on eligible purchases.

Organizing credit cards ahead of the holiday is essential. It helps consumers to avoid unwanted debt and could also offer cash savings from better interest rates, cash-back, and price-difference refunds.

Mr. Plum, How about recommending that people do not use their credit cards? That would avoid debt would it not. Don't use credit cards for points or cash back. This is a gimmick by the credit card companies to lure people into using their credit cards.
