Hi Joanne, spousal benefits under social security may be up to 50% of the primary insured amount or PIA of an eligible worker. PIA is a calculated dollar amount based on the total earnings of a worker. An eligible spouse of that worker may receive a portion of this PIA amount- up to half. Go to ssa.gov to get more details to address specific to your situation.

Thanks for a great question, good luck!
