What are some ways to get and stay motivated to save for retirement when you're struggling in life now?

Retirement may as well be a purple elephant for all I believe it's a possible thing for me down the line. Or more to the point, my husband, since he's the worker. We live hand to mouth. Savings just seems silly when our needs now are so much and tomorrow is so far away, if at all.

Cut expenses somewhere and invest that savings in something like a Roth IRA. Even if its $10.00/month, just seeing the account grow will be good for your mind-set. For example, do you really need a cell phone, cable TV...... just tossing some stuff around. | 08.17.15 @ 20:54

You will have to cut some things: stop eating in restaurants, reduce utility bills by turning off, sell stuff you haven't used in a year on ebay or garage sale, you don't need new gadgets - if his work has a 401k enroll in it, you won't see much difference in the net check | 08.17.15 @ 23:43
