Lenders are under no obligation to request the wife's credit report for a VA loan. The reason that creditors request a spouse's credit history is to help evaluate the borrower's ability and likelihood to repay the loan. I know this because while I was active duty military I used a VA loan to purchase my first home. My wife's credit was not as good as it should have been and was not used to determine my ability to repay the loan. I am also in the financial services industry and have worked with providing loans to borrower's. I hope this helps you, if you would like information regarding how to maximise the use of your VA loan, and create a more secure future while increasing your cash flow please don't hesitate to contact me. | 12.23.15 @ 00:42
