Hi Erin,
In most cases, your new insurance comapny will need an updated appraisal. Each compnay is different with what they consider "updated". The cost of Jewelry has gone up in the past few years so it would be a good idea to get a new appraisal, even if the insurance comapny accepts the one you have. | 11.07.13 @ 14:22

I concur with Greg - most insurers will want one that is fairly current - within the last couple years if it is over a certain value.

It's not a bad idea to get your jewelry appraised and checked periodically anyway as settings can become worn and lose. You can also get rings cleaned and have them sparkle again. Many jewelers will do this for free or for a very low cost as they want to get you in and look at more jewelry. | 11.07.13 @ 16:33
