I am currently renting for $870 a month. I'm 86 years old but I enjoy working in the yard. Is it a bad idea to buy a home now instead of rent?

Hi anonymously
It's an individual answer.
We have folks on both sides of this discussion. Are you enjoying your lifestyle (this is important at any age - perhaps more so for you at age of 86)? If yes, how would this change by buying something? Think about affordability, opportunity cost, estate planning, etc., both now and in the future.

All of our folks rent/own with the cash-flows from investments that we manage for them. So, affordability is not a problem.

You do bring up a great point with lifestyle. Some rentals do not offer the possibility of outdoor activities like yard work, gardening, etc.

Always do what is in your best interest.
