How can I check to see if a credit collection agency has filed suit against me?

About three months ago, a man called my cell phone, my ex-husband's cell phone, and my current husband's cell phone claiming to have information about a "legal matter". The caller would not provide any details and would not give his name, so we all told him to take a hike. However, I am now concerned that he was trying to serve me with papers notifying me of a suit being brought up against me by a debt collector. Is there any way I can find out if there are currently any lawsuits pending against me?

If you are being sued in a civil action, you must be provided notice, but states have different laws regarding the method of providing the notice. We suggest you consult with a local lawyer. | 06.18.15 @ 17:34
